Not because they are handsome—though he is—but because they possess that rare talent of making viewers feel at ease, as if speaking only to you, even when addressing millions. Stefano De Martino has that talent, and Sanremo 2027 will be his greatest stage.

Born on October 3, 1989, in Torre Annunziata, in the province of Naples. He too comes from the South, carrying within him that distinctly Campanian ability to blend irony with sentiment, lightness with depth. As a child, he studied dance—a serious passion, not a pastime—and in 2007 won a scholarship to the Broadway Dance Center in New York. The world opened before him.

The general public came to know him through Amici di Maria De Filippi, where he participated in 2009 and placed first among the dancers. From that moment, a television career began that grew steadily, built with patience: host of the Amici daytime show, then Pequeños Gigantes, then Made in Sud, then Bar Stella. Each step larger than the previous one.

The real turning point came in autumn 2024, when RAI entrusted him with hosting Affari Tuoi. What seemed like a risk proved to be one of the most successful television choices in recent years: De Martino transformed the format into something of his own, with natural ease and a stage presence that keeps millions of viewers glued to the screen every evening.

The announcement of his hosting Sanremo 2027 came live, during the night of the 2026 Festival finale: Carlo Conti reached De Martino in the auditorium and symbolically passed the baton to him before all of Italy. An unprecedented handover in the Festival’s history, almost theatrical, worthy of the moment. Alongside him, as co-artistic director, will be Fabrizio Ferraguzzo.

Sanremo 2027 will be the 77th edition of the Italian Song Festival. With Stefano De Martino at the helm, the Teatro Ariston will have a host capable of laughing without being frivolous, of being moved without being rhetorical, of making television with that naturalness which, in reality, is the result of years of work. It is the promise of five evenings that Italy is already anticipating.

In Brief

Born: October 3, 1989, Torre Annunziata (NA)
Role at Sanremo 2027: Host and Artistic Director
Co-artistic director: Fabrizio Ferraguzzo
Flagship program: Affari Tuoi (RAI 1, since September 2024)
Training: Dance · scholarship at Broadway Dance Center, New York (2007)
Fun fact: The handover with Carlo Conti took place live during the Sanremo 2026 finale—a first in the Festival’s history

The Host Italy Has Been Waiting for at the 2027 Sanremo Festival Some people are born to be in front of a camera.
